Investigation of Increasing Capacities of Centrifugal Pumps By CFD Analysis

Comprehensive CFD Study of Impeller Redesign for P-202, P-204, P-401, and P-604 Pumps

Project Overview

  • Target: Evaluate and implement process capacity debottlenecking for four critical industrial centrifugal pumps (P-202, P-204, P-401, and P-604).
  • Approach: Modeled 3D rotating reference frames and flow fields using ANSYS CFX to systematically generate complete head, power, and efficiency curves for redesigned impellers featuring optimized blade geometries and expanded diameters.
  • Achievements: Confirmed complete head delivery compliance across all units, proving that targeted impeller replacement delivers substantial flow rate increases ranging from 10.6% to 59.6% without needing full pump casing replacements.
