Project Overview

  • Target: Maximize process efficiencies for circular battery material recovery, bioprocess protein separation, and multi-scale drug delivery devices.
  • Approach: Developed transient 2D and 3D multiphysics CFD models in COMSOL and Python to resolve electrochemistry, fluid transport, and membrane separation across various physical geometries.
  • Achievements: Optimized conical and spiral module configurations for protein chromatography, validated selective $Li^+$ ion extraction from black mass leachate in electrodialysis stacks, and mathematically characterized mass transfer across four distinct transport regimes.
