Advanced Coke Recycling System for Cracking Furnaces for Olefin Production
Project Overview
Target: Eliminate conventional production shutdowns and environmental waste management burdens by converting abrasive radiant coil coke deposits into supplementary fuel.
Approach: Modeled turbulent coke combustion kinetics, multi-phase discrete particle tracking, and thermal radiation in ANSYS Fluent, paired with cyclic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) thermal-structural stress evaluations.
Achievements: Confirmed 100% complete coke conversion via a floor batch-injection technique and engineered an optimized, un-welded bolted insulating sleeve connection that maintains structural integrity under extreme operating gradients (1036–1277 K).
