CFD Simulation and Membrane Selection for Decarbonization of Lime Manufacturing
Project Overview
Target: Electrify the lime manufacturing process via electrolysis with cogeneration of $Ca(OH)_2$ to support industry decarbonization.
Approach: Built a 2D COMSOL Multiphysics framework evaluating mass transport boundaries, charge arrays, and electrochemical variables across alternative process configurations.
Achievements: Identified critical configuration guidelines proving that thin membranes with maximum porosity and high Ion Exchange Capacity (IEC) reduce overall system energy consumption.
